How Long Will a Flag Last?
Share
There’s no exact answer, as a flag’s lifespan depends on conditions like wind, sun, and weather. However, based on guidance from FMAA and suggestions from U.S. government, a high-quality nylon or cotton U.S. flag flown daily from sunrise to sunset — and taken down during bad weather — typically lasts about 90 days.
Flying a flag 24 hours a day or during harsh weather may shorten its life significantly.
To keep your display looking its best, we also recommend considering a fresh, new flag about every 90 days of regular outdoor use.
